TISD Student Competes at Cowboy Game This Sunday
A Tyler ISD elementary student will take the field at the Dallas Cowboy game this weekend.  Britney Cisneros, a fourth grader at Andy Woods Elementary School, will compete at the Washington Redskin vs Dallas Cowboys football game on Sunday.  Cisneros placed first in the area NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK (PPK) competition back in October.  She then moved up to the sectional round where she placed 4th overall.  READ MORE


TISD Board Approves Renovations For Birdwell, Owens

Tyler ISD trustees unanimously approved using excess funds from the 2004 and 2008 bond programs to proceed with designs, renovations and additions for Birdwell and Owens elementary schools, marking a continuation of the district's facilities improvement plan.

Renovations to Birdwell and Owens elementary schools could begin this summer if the Tyler ISD school board approves using excess funds from current and previous bond programs to move forward with facility improvements.

 

Tyler ISD Schools Get Top Marks From TEA

The Texas Education Agency awarded 40 Gold Performance Acknowledgments to 15 Tyler ISD schools, the school district announced.
Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPAs) recognize districts and campuses for high academic performance on indicators such as commended performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test and significant improvement in reading and mathematics, according to TISD.

 

Plyler Alternative School Program Makes A Difference

Clarkston Elementary Celebrates Anniversary

Bob Liles remembers when Clarkston Elementary School was nothing more than a piece of land.  In 1959, the same year Clarkston opened, Liles was a third grade student.

For the past 3 years, Friday mornings have been different at Bell Elementary School. Instead of students going to their assigned classrooms, all the students and faculty at Bell meet in the gymnasium at 7:45 a.m.  Why the change on Fridays? Local Surveyors Donate Services to John Tyler
The local surveyors have always felt a strong sense of responsibility to the community, and historically, have taken action in response to that call.  It is because of this commitment, that when Tyler ISD had requested boundary surveys that include both John Tyler and Robert E. National Ranking Reveals TISD Keeps Students Safe When Searching Online
A top 100 national ranking of school districts, indicating which districts keep students safest when searching online, has been released. For the second year in a row, the Tyler Independent School District, for the 2008-2009 school year, ranked in the top 50 school districts across the country.  READ MORE

 

TISD School Earns EPA Designation

Jack Elementary School has earned the U.S. Environmental Agency’s ENERGY STAR designation.  This accomplishment will be recognized at the regular school board meeting to be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m.  To earn the ENERGY STAR, a school must be more energy efficient than 75% of similar buildings nationwide.  READ MORE
