The James S. Hogg International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) is currently preparing curriculum, projects, field trips and activities for next year. There is still time to apply for the 2008-2009 school year. A few positions are still open. Application packets are available at James S. Hogg Middle School. Tyler ISD Board Terminates IB Program At John Tyler

The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Tuesday the withdrawal of John Tyler High School from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, while also highlighting the need for accountability with the advanced studies program that will essentially replace it.

Tyler ISD To Honor Teachers Of The Year

Tyler ISD Foundation Recognizes Outstanding Academic Achievement and Teaching Excellence
High achieving students from both high schools in Tyler Independent School District will receive special recognition Thursday night, and they will be sharing the spotlight with some extraordinary teachers on the same night. Thirty-eight students and 26 teachers will be honored.  Also, the Joe Maland Memorial Scholarship will be awarded at the ceremony that night.

The first National/State Certification course in School Foundation Management was held recently in Friendswood ISD with approximately 40 foundation representatives from across the state attending.

New Rice Principal Named
Tyler ISD is pleased to announce Jennifer Sturm is the new principal for Rice Elementary School.  Sturm has been with the school system for 14 years.  Sturm currently serves as assistant principal at Caldwell Elementary Arts Academy.  She has served at several campuses as an Instructional Consultant, Instructional Facilitator, and teacher.   READ MORE
 

TISD Hires Hubbard Principal
Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved and named Annisa Myers Kiener, a Texas educator with 13 years of experience, as the new principal of Hubbard Middle School.  Kiener is currently Director of Instruction in the Cy-Fair Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved and named Tracy Cartas, an educator with more than 24 years of experience, to the key post of Director for Special Education.
