TISD Mulls Next Bond Issue

The Tyler ISD board of trustees will consider calling a bond election as early as November.  The $100 million bond package as discussed during a board workshop Thursday would call for the renovation or rebuilding of both Rice and Dixie elementary schools as well as the construction of a large middle school in southwest Tyler.

After several years of leading the instructional support services and bilingual department of the Tyler Independent School District, Dr. H.T. Sanchez, Executive Director of Instructional Support Services, has decided to leave Tyler ISD. Sanchez plans to return to the school district where he began his career to become the assistant superintendent for accountability and special populations for Ector County Independent School District. Tyler ISD Foundation Finds Success with 17th Annual Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Classic
Just hours before tee time, Hollytree grounds workers were clearing fish from the course—seriously—in order for the 17th annual Suddenlink/Healthfirst TPA Gil Hitt Memorial Golf Tournament to get underway. The heavy rains the weekend before did not hamper the golf action as 18 teams of 6 players each began the shamble golf format and raised over $56,000 for the Tyler ISD Foundation.  READ MORE
