News Release TISD Students Move Money Tyler ISD Students are seeing first hand how money flows in today’s economy. On Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. second grade students will learn how “Money Moves” at Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School located at 1900 Balsam Gap, in Tyler. The goal of the lesson is to teach students about money and why it is important to the community.
This lesson is courtesy of Junior Achievement’s business/education partnership that provides programs and activities that benefit everyone involved and are facilitated by local business volunteers. Bank of Tyler is a “Whole School Sponsor” for Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School. Ryan Ford, an employee with Bank of Tyler, will teach students how to identify circumstances of money being exchanged for goods or services. Each of the Junior Achievement’s programs is unique and has its own strengths centered on the skills of the volunteer in the classroom. Bank of Tyler also provides Junior Achievement classes throughout the school year at James S. Hogg Middle School.
The Junior Achievement classes started in the Tyler area in 1988. This
year Junior Achievement is operating 161 Junior Achievement classes at
local schools, reaching over 3,300 students in kindergarten through 12th
grade. Junior Achievement is the largest, oldest, fastest growing economic education organization in the world. This year marks the 88th year of Junior Achievement's business and education partnership. ### |
