News Release New Bilingual Director Heads Program at TISD Tyler ISD is pleased to announce Dr. Heliodoro Torres “H.T.” Sanchez as the Director of Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) Education for the school system. Sanchez was previously with Tyler ISD as the principal of Dogan Middle School for the 2005-2006 school year.
“We are pleased that Mr. Sanchez is returning to Tyler ISD,” said
Superintendent Randy Reid. “We are excited about the leadership and
expertise that he brings to this position.” Sanchez’s will oversee the Bilingual and ESL program at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. He will supervise the bilingual teachers and oversee program development.
Sanchez has nine years of education experience as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He began his career in public education with Ector County ISD as an English teacher, and then continued in Lewisville ISD as an assistant principal of an elementary school. He also served as a principal for a middle school and then a high school for Waco ISD.
Sanchez holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. He received his Master’s Degree in School Administration from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. He completed his Educational Doctorate in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.
The TISD Board of Trustees approved
Sanchez’s hiring at its June 17 meeting. He
officially begins his duties July 1, 2008.
