Tyler ISD Students Receive State Recognition

The Robert E. Lee High School Wind Ensemble Band has been named the Region XXI 5A Honor Band. The band received this distinction through the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition.

 

The following students received a First Division rating at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (TSSEC): Caleb Ketcham - Trombone Solo; Gabe Roberson - Bass Trombone Solo; Hayley Brookshire, Allison Hughes, Chloe Ainsworth - Woodwind Trio; Grant Hendley, Keaton Ainsworth, Elizabeth Ortigo, Caleb Ketcham, Gabe Roberson - Brass Quintet; Kerry Anderson, Elliott Levin, Jack Reagan - Percussion Ensemble; Kelsi Wicks, Chris Braswell, Bailey Harden, Hunter Page, Travis Farmer - Percussion Ensemble;  and Maddie Levin, Elliott Levin, Jim McDaniel, Riche Booth, Robert Brock, Calvin Mark, Andrea Gutierrez, Jason VanBuskirk, Drew Delgado, Whitney Baskin, Hunter Hobbs, Laken Lewis, Jacob Walker, Jordan Shea - Percussion Ensemble.

 

Senior Gabe Roberson was recognized as an Outstanding Performer at the 2008 Texas State Solo-Ensemble Bass Trombone Solo Contest.  This is a very special honor given only to the highest performing students in the state of Texas.  Of the approximately 85,000 students participating in the regional UIL music contests and the 22,000 musicians who performed at TSSEC, only 256 students earned the distinguished honor of being recognized as an Outstanding Performer.
