TISD Host Site for State Chemistry Teacher Conference

 

The Associated Chemistry Teachers of Texas, ACT2, is holding its 2008 Associated Chemistry Teachers of Texas Biennial Conference Sunday, August 3rd through Thursday, August 7th at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler.

 

Featured Presenters include: Jeff Hepburn, a teacher at Central Academy in Des Moines, Iowa, who received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award for Chemistry Education in 1993.  A part-time magician, Jeff presents entertaining and inspiring ideas for teaching Chemistry.

 

John Mauch teaches at Braintree High School in Braintree, Massachusetts.  He is the author of two lab manuals, and has conducted more than 100 workshops across the country. 

 

Paul Price teaches at Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth, Texas.  He received the Southwest Region Award for High School Teaching in 2005.  Paul is a skilled demonstrator and takes a conceptual approach to chemistry. 

 

Penney Sconzo teaches at the Westminster Schools in Georgia.  She does presentations and workshops involving chemical demonstrations, microchemistry, and calculator/laboratory technology at state regional and national conventions.  

 

The Associated Chemistry Teachers of Texas, ACT2, is a statewide non-profit organization of elementary through college teachers and supervisors and those interested in science education who are dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of chemistry education in Texas schools.
