News Release Peete Elementary School Bomb Threat Today at approximately 11:15 a.m., Peete Elementary School received a call from an unknown caller. The caller mentioned a bomb was supposed to be on campus.
The Tyler ISD Police Department was dispatched to the school. When they arrived, they proceeded to investigate. A perimeter and internal search was conducted. Tyler ISD Police conducted a threat assessment and determined the threat was not credible. The campus was safe to return to normal operations.
The campus used this opportunity to comply with Senate Bill 11 requiring schools to conduct mandatory safety drills. A site evacuation drill was conducted and successfully completed.
The safety of students and staff is a priority in Tyler ISD. A letter was sent home with students this afternoon to explain the situation and how the District responded.
