TISD Elementary School Benefits from Local Shoppers
Thanks to the purchases of area shoppers a Tyler ISD elementary school recently received a check from a local department store. Owens Elementary School has been awarded almost $300.00 from Target in its “Take Charge of Education” payout program. This school fundraising initiative is the result of the parents, teachers and school supporters who participate in the program.
“Our campus utilizes these funds to help support our literacy program,” said Linda Payne, Owens Principal. We have purchased books for our library, literacy library, and classrooms with the money we have received. We thank our parents and friends for their patronage of Target, which in turn helps support our school.”
Through “Take Charge of Education” families, teachers and members of the community have an easy way to raise money for their school. When they sign up and designate an eligible K-12 school, Target donates up to 1% of every purchase they make to that school.
Owens Elementary School has earned more than $7,200.00 since 1997 in the Target program.
