Program Grant (GEAR-UP) Site Facilitator

QUALIFICATIONS:        

  1. Master’s Degree Preferred

  2. Texas Teacher’s Certificate Preferred

  3. Experience working successfully with parents and community partners and agencies.

  4. Specialized training and/or experience with economically disadvantaged and/or minority students .

  5. Effective written and oral communication skills.

  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

JOB GOALS:                 To serve as the chief facilitator for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program Grant (GEAR-UP)


Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 2; 197 days The continuation of this position is contingent

 upon the renewal of the grant funding this position.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
 

1. 

Communicates effectively with staff, students, parents, Board of Trustees, and the community concerning grant activities.

2. 

Demonstrates skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and/or the community.

3. 

Demonstrates ability to work with diverse groups in a positive, productive way.

4. 

Works collaboratively with others in supporting TISD’s philosophy/mission and articulates a vision for the district’s GEAR-UP program.

5. 

Systematically monitors grant program activities and compiles, maintains, and files all reports and other documents required for the project

6. 

Oversees data collection and analysis, including comparison of pre and post intervention data

7. 

Uses and reports evaluative findings to determine the extent to which goals and objectives of the project are met.

8. 

Applies the findings of research and district studies to improve the content/sequence, and outcomes of the teaching/learning process.

9. 

Coordinates parent involvement activities including monthly parent advisory committee meetings, parent academy, and parent outreach programs.

10.      

Provides instructional resources and curriculum materials to project personnel within the limits of available resources

11.      

Recruit student participants for the project and facilitates students in the extended day, and summer programs.

12.      

Coordinates all project professional development for staff and parents.

13.      

Serves as the facilitator for the project and oversee its day to day operation in conjunction with campus administration and UT Tyler personnel, including attending monthly UT Tyler meetings.

14.      

Coordinates all data collection and analysis and ensure that the evaluation design for the project has been met with completeness, accuracy, and within all stated time limits with the requirements and guidance of UT Tyler.

15.      

Coordinates project activities with educational partnerships in the community.

16.      

Develops application documents, letters to parents, faculty, and students, and all other documents related to the project

17.      

Coordinates entities such as local campuses, district offices, TEA and UT Tyler

18.      

Complies with Board policies, federal and State laws;

19.      

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators

20.      

Keeps accurate documentation of teacher training and provides reports of training to supervisor

21.      

Communicates project activities, instructional practices, project accomplishments, goals, and new directions to parents, community and news media

22.      

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

    23.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrate teamwork in daily activities.
      24. Meets attendance standards and complies with notification procedures for absences.
      25. Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
      26. Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
      27. Participates in meetings and special events as assigned.
      28. Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
      29. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

 

Mental Demands: Reading; ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal); ability to operate computer and other technologies listed; ability to speak to public.  The ability to organize and schedule multiple tasks; and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced setting.

Physical Demands: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal; district and state-wide travel; close work with a variety of electronic equipment; and frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
