REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent


QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s Degree

  2. Texas Mid-management preferred

  3. Valid Texas teaching certificate with at least three years successful teaching and administrative experience preferred.

  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 5, 226 days Wage/Hour Status: Exempt


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1.     

Coordinates the benchmark assessment program for the district to improve student achievement.

2.     

Oversees, in coordination with content area directors/coordinators, the development of benchmark assessments for the core subject areas ensuring that each assessment meets district standards.

3.     

Communicates effectively with staff, parents, Board or Trustees, and the community concerning the district assessment program.

4.     

Demonstrates skill in conflict resolution with administrators, teachers, staff, and/or the community.

5.     

Works collaboratively with others in articulating the vision and role of the district’s benchmark assessment program.

6.     

Works with principals and teachers to generate means for improving student performance on the benchmark assessment and ultimately the TAAS examination

7.     

Uses evaluative findings to determine the extent to which goals and objectives of the district assessment program are met.

8.     

Is prompt and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

9.       

Applies the findings of research and district studies to improve content/sequence, and outcomes of the teaching/learning process through effective assessment.

10.     

Studies current assessment developments; provides guidance in the interpretation and classroom application of benchmark testing.

11.   

Provides instructional resources and curriculum materials to administrators and classroom teachers.

12.   

Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.

13.   

Compile, maintain, file, and present all reports, records, and other documents related to the benchmark program.

14.   

Compiles budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.

15.   

Prepares documents, summaries, and implementation plans and reports as requested.

16.   

Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.

17.   

Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

18.   

Improves leadership skills through self-initiated professional development activities.

19.   

Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.

20.   

Uses information provided through the District appraisal process to improve performance.

21.   

Develops and organizes training for teachers and administrators on benchmark assessment and its role in improving student performance.

22.   

Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned.

 

Equipment used: Computer, copier, fax, printer, scanner, and other technological equipment  

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands:   Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide functions.

Physical Demands:   repetitive hand motions;  prolonged use of computer terminal; close work with scanning and scoring electronic equipment.  Frequent district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
