SUPERVISES: Coaching Assistants

Supports
and supervises all phases of the athletic program and athletic coaches
and encourages athletes to participate in every sport
in which they have talent and interest; ensures that all coaches
are working toward a common goal to promote the entire campus athletic
program and unity with the feeder schools.

Promotes the athletic program
by meeting with the media, civic groups, booster clubs, parent and
school organizations; assists head coaches in promoting their teams and
their sports.
|
|
3.
|
Demonstrates skills in
conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, coaches
and/or the community.
|
|
4.
|
Consults with the principal
or athletic director if the problem requires additional attention.
|
|
5.
|
Schedules regular meetings of
all coaches on campus to discuss issues such as maximum participation,
off-season programs, scheduling, discipline and/or goals, or to resolve
conflicts or concerns.
|
|
6.
|
Assists the athletic director
in coordinating the competitive sports program, developing lines of
communication, and ensuring continuity at the assigned high school with
the and feeder middle schools.
|
|
7.
|
Assumes the responsibility
for the total football program at the high school and feeder schools,
organizes inservice meetings as needed and conducts the program within
the rules as outlined in the UIL
Constitution and Contest Rules; attends UIL and district meetings
when requested.

|
Follows
required district procedures when assisting the athletic department,
human resource department, and principal in recruiting and interviewing
coaching personnel.
|
|
9.
|
Evaluate head coaches in each
sport, athletic trainers (with the principal), and all assistant
football coaches; approve the evaluation of all other assistant coaches
by their head coach; ensure that the evaluation process is conducted
according to policy.

|
Assist the athletic director
with duty rosters, schedules, and securing working personnel for
sub-varsity football games, basketball games, baseball games, track
meets, interschool games and scrimmages,
playoff games, and other athletic events as needed.
|
|

|
With the principal’s
approval, assign coaches to scouting responsibilities, in-service
meetings, and other duties related to coaching.
|
|
12.
|
Disseminates UIL rules and
regulations as they relate to each head coach’s program; maintains
file copies of pertinent UIL materials, eligibility forms, transfer
forms, grade reports; and
ensures that the UIL and district guidelines are followed.
|
|
13.
|
Ensures that all coaches have
a notarized UIL “Professional Acknowledgment” form on file with
the athletic department and that all UIL forms are filed in a
timely manner.
|
|
14.
|
Assists the Principal
in designing the master schedule to maximize the use of coaching
personnel, athletic periods, conference periods, and optimum utilization
of facilities.
|
|
15.
|
Assists the athletic director
in coordinating transportation requests for all sports on campus.
|
|
16.
|
Ensures that head coaches
complete and submit bid requests and inventories on time and receive and
disperse properly fitting equipment for all sports, including football,
on campus.

17.
|
Assists the athletic director
in improving and maintaining the athletic fields, gymnasiums, courts,
and track on campus.
|
|
18.
|
Assists in developing the
Athletic Policy and Procedures Handbook; establishes a uniform campus
lettering policy.
|
|
19.
|
Ensures that the trainers
maintain proper physical examination forms and insurance information
relevant to student athletes.
|
|
20.
|
Improve leadership skills
through self-initiated professional development activities.
|
|
21.
|
Perform duties in a
professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code
of Ethics for Educators and TISD policy.

|
Use information provided
through the District appraisal process to improve performance.
|
|
23.
|
Organizes, directs or
participates in football clinics during the school year or summer month.
|
|
24.
|
Assists the athletic director
in organizing and scheduling gym us/rentals for outside groups or teams.

25.
|
Assists the athletic director
during the summer months as needed.
|
|
26.
|
Perform other tasks and
assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as
assigned.
