Dedicated to providing the students and employees of Tyler ISD a clean, comfortable and safe environment in which to learn and work.

The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance, operation and service of buildings, grounds, and other physical properties belonging to Tyler Independent School District.

Each campus receives pest activity monitoring twice monthly

All campus AC filters are replaced monthly

Roof inspections conducted each quarter

District HVAC Evaporative and Condenser Coils are cleaned once per year

Boiler and Cooling Tower closed loop systems water test and treatment monthly

Lead in Drinking Water tested and filters changed every six months

Fire Marshall inspection of all District facilities once each year

Athletic grounds fertilizing and over-seeding performed each spring

Fire sprinkler systems inspected and tested annually

Each campus is painted every seven years

District Fire Alarms are inspected annually

District kitchen vent-a-hood fire suppressant systems inspected annually.

District Gas Testing is performed annually

State Boiler Inspection every two years

Grounds Care - Scope of Work   BACK TO TOP

September 1 through November 30;
March 1 through August 31

  • Four Times Each Month:
    Each area of the contractor's responsibility will be mowed, edged, weed-eated and cleared. (Prior to mowing , removal of trash, limbs, and other debris will be included.) Any areas of excess clippings will be mulched, raked or bagged, and removed. All sidewalks, streets/curbs and gutters will be blown clean of debris.

  • Every Other Month:
    All shrubs/ornamental trees will be trimmed on each campus to a condition as accepted by the executive director of facilities or designee.

  • Monthly:
    Flower/shrub beds will be weeded and cleaned of debris.

Annually in March and September

  • Herbicides will be applied for grass/weeds in sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and asphalt playgrounds.

Annually in February

  • Application of pre-emergent herbicide and fertilizer on each campus.

December 1 through February 28

  • Twice Monthly:
    Leaf mulching/mowing, continued removal of trash, limbs, debris, and cleaning leaves from all flower beds.
