Science 6
For the past ten years sixth graders
have studied only Physical Science, but Texas now requires that 6th, 7th, and 8th
grade science instruction be general science.
In sixth grade there is an emphasis
on developing skills in:
- classifying

Science vocabulary is promoted as well as scientific writing skills and computer skills.
The "big" science project is done completely in class from research to science
display with logbook during the 4th and 5th six weeks.
Other topics studied are:
- Matter and Energy Interactions
- Energy and the Environment
- Force and Motion
- Physical and Chemical Properties of substances
- Structure and Function of Living Systems
- Organisms response to Stimuli
- Role of genes in inheritance
- Structure and Function of Earth Systems
