
What do you want to be when you grow up?
In this class you will answer that question and many more. Students will take a personality and interest test to help them narrow their search for an ideal career. Students will research their career options and make a brochure about their career.
Students will learn how to search for a job. During the job search unit students will write a resume and cover letter. Students will also learn what to do during an interview.
The next unit of student shows students how to handle their money and finances. Students will learn how to write a check, balance a checkbook, and make deposits. Students will learn how to save, make a budget, find an apartment, and how credit works.
The last unit of study will have students looking at issues of the job. Subjects will be discussed are time management, grooming and appearance, basic work skills, team work, and leadership skills.
At the end of the course students will save their career and college information on Bridges. COM, a website in which they can continue to use until after college.
Students whom pass this course will earn a 1/2 high school credit.
