Lockers 2009-2010
Lockers for 6 grade students will be assigned Friday, August 28th during A1.
All 7th and 8th grade students who would like a locker – please see Mrs. Griffin in the cafeteria during all lunches - beginning Thursday, August 27th and ending Friday, September 4th.
Lockers will be assigned to teachers based on the number of students assigned their A-1 class & NO extras. Teachers may have other teacher's A-1 students with lockers assigned within their classrooms (limited number of lockers verse students) see locker locations sheet attached.
Teachers will be sent a Student Locker List. The list has the locker number and combination, highlighted/written in, and the other 5 combinations are also provided. If you have a problem with a locker; please inform the appropriate assistant principal. Please provide a written list (hand delivered or e-mail attachment) to include: locker number-locker location (room 2A etc.) -specific problem (handle broken, stuck/jammed etc.).
Please rehearse the proper method for opening the locker with your students. This may be their first experience with a combination lock and additional practice may be necessary.
Note: Teachers may determine which manner they inform their students of locker assignments. Some teachers use a 3 by 5 card.
Other teachers post opening instructions on a PowerPoint slideshow or overhead projector showing the procedures and asking the students to copy the information, and then privately giving each student their locker number and combination, usually students write their locker combination in their agenda.
Procedure for opening lockers:
1. Turn right 2 or more whole turns and stop at the first number.
2. Turn left one whole turn past the first number and stop at the second number.
Turn right to the last number and open the door by lifting up on the handle. If the handle is dropped before the door is opened, the combination sequence must begin again.
