Mustang Match
 

Mustang Match is a thinking game that is played on the Moore Campus every morning.  Students are asked on the loud speaker to identify the common connection between three words or phrases.  Students are encouraged to make generalizations and connections about word meanings to find the common match.   An example would be the words,  hand, smoke, and turn.   These three words can be associated with the answer "Signal".  (hand signals, smoke signals, and turn signals)  The intent of the game is to encourage higher levels of thinking as defined in Bloom's Taxonomy and to engage learners in thinking at the beginning of the day.  Students give their first period teachers the answers who then e-mail the correct answer to Mr. Lane, the campus principal.  The game also encourages teachers to preview their e-mail messages at the first of each day.  This ensures that teachers tune into any important announcements for the day.  At the end of the month tally marks from daily winners are compiled to recognize the winning class for the month.  The winning teacher receives a gift certificate for lunch at a local restaurant and the winning first period class receives donuts.
