Details:  You are invited to preview what Moore Magnet school has to offer your child for middle level education.  The Moore MST Campus, TISD’s Math, Science, and Technology Magnet School, is holding its 10th annual Math, Science, and Technology Night on Thursday, October 15, 2009 on the school campus at 6:00 p.m.  Students and parents will attend “hands on” interactive sessions focused on math, science, and technology. Attendees in science sessions might find the planet Venus through a telescope.  Our Astronomers may even learn about the Andromeda Galaxy in an autumn session entitled “Autumn Astronomy” or explore a -109.3 degrees Fahrenheit substance that will turn a film canister into a rocket. A mysterious substance will be explored by our young Scientist with a “ghostly” flare or they may attend a session that challenges them to build a vehicle that will travel to Mars. Science participants may also work in a lab with chemical reactions or work with the ancient process of Chromatography. Technology Engineers will challenge their friends and family to see who can build the strongest bridge or to see who can create the tallest tower. Mustang Mathematicians will compete to work puzzles or play “game show” competitions on math facts or use their brains to “unwrap” a present while solving a multi-step algebra problem. A Lego competition will be available for our Mustang designers along with food samples in some sessions that accompany scientific experiments and competitions. Regardless of which sessions you choose to attend, the evening promises to be great fun for the entire family.

Moore MST Magnet school has an open enrollment to 5^th grade TISD students who are interested in attending Moore for middle school.  Our recruitment begins in January when applications are available through your elementary school’s office or from our website at http://www.tylerisd.org/Schools/Moore/ Our recruitment evening is scheduled for February 8, 2009 at 6:00 p.m.  Our MST night provides potential students the opportunity to see the campus first hand.  The objective for the evening is to get parents actively involved as our partners in producing mathematicians, scientist and users of 21^st century technology.
