Clubs/Organizations
The National Junior Honor Society is an organization that creates enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulates a desire to render service, promotes leadership, develops character, and encourages citizenship. Membership in the Moore chapter is by invitation only and requires a 90 or above overall average (during the 6th and 7th grades) with a minimum of four negative citizenship grades; that average must be maintained during the 8th grade as well. Invited candidates are inducted in the spring of their 7th grade and actively serve during their 8th grade. Projects, such as "Coats for Kids" and the Salvation Army Angel Tree are two of the main projects for the year. Members also serve as guides for the incoming 5th graders on the first day of school and as guides on other occasions. Each member must earn six hours of service credit during each semester of his/her 8th grade. Penny Barr and Misti Rasure serve as the organization's advisors.
Junior Historians is a history club open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Moore MST Magnet School. It is an organization affiliated with the Texas State Historical Association. A membership fee of six dollars is required. The organization’s purpose is to promote an appreciation for history and to promote an interest in the preservation of our history for future generations. Students are given the opportunity to compete at the state level with history projects. On our campus the Junior Historians participate in a service project which involves making and delivering Valentines to patients at the Clairmont Nursing Home. Officers are responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day. In the fall the members enjoy a multi-cultural breakfast prepared by their advisors. The members sponsor the Homecoming Dance in October as a fund raiser for the activities that they will participate in for the year. The canned goods donated will be used at PATH in Tyler. In the spring members enjoy a field trip to a historical site in Texas. Last year students traveled to the Texas State Railroad in Rusk. This year's group is planning on visiting the Vicksburg Battlefield in Mississippi.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a national organization designed to promote and maintain a Christian attitude and walk for athletes, on and off the field. At Moore, it is not limited to athletes, but is open to all students who wish to participate. Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 7:55. Come join us to encourage and pray for one another!
Student council is the student governing body of Moore MST Magnet. Qualifications for officers and representatives can be found at our Student Council web site. Members work to make the campus of J. R. Moore MST Magnet School the best in East Texas. Just click on the link below to visit there. Student Council

Robotics Club
Membership in the Moore Robotics team is open to anyone who is a student at Moore. Simply drop by 7C during practice (T/TH, after school until 4:30) or come talk to Mrs. McClure about joining. The students who participate in this team are generally interested in topics like engineering, construction, and computer programming. We explore these topics by tinkering with both RCX and NXT Lego Robotics kits and programming. The team is planning to compete in several contests in the fall and hope to attend a robotics training camp this summer.
