Department of Financial Aid Aggie Summer Institute
This summer
the Department of Student Financial Aid is teaming up with your
community
to provide
students a FREE opportunity to learn about and prepare for
college, Aggie
Summer
Institute (ASI). We need your help. Texas A&M is looking for
volunteers to help
chaperone the
participants. Each program will include 30 students from the
7th through
12th grades
for a total of 180 students. The program is being held June
25th through
June 29th.
The website
https://financialaid.tamu.edu/asi/ has more information
about
volunteering
for Aggie Summer Institute 2007.
Additionally,
Texas A&M is looking for students to participate in this college
prep program.
The students
will learn about majors and careers, time management,
personality profiles,
good study
habits, applying for college, applying for financial aid, and
much more. ASI will
be held in the
following cities:
College Station, Corpus
Christi, Arlington, Houston, Laredo,
San Antonio
and Weslaco. As a targeted outreach to the seniors, we will
have a campus
visit on the
29th from each region. While in
College
Station the students will tour Texas A&M
University and
visit with various colleges and departments. Additionally, the
seniors who
complete the
program will be eligible for a scholarship drawing totaling
$42,000. Please
announce this
opportunity at your school for all students to apply. The
students do not have
to be
interested in attending Texas A&M. This program is designed to
provide participants
with
information that will be useful in their future, regardless of
the university or vocational
program they
choose.
