IB Prep World History

Summer Reading Selection

(10th Grade,  2008-2009)

Students, read the following books and make notes for memorable information in the margins.  This needs to be finished before the first day of class in the fall.

1.        GENGHIS KHAN AND THE MONGOL EMPIRE   by Jean-Paul Roux – ISBN # 0-8109-9103-9

(small book with tons of information about the Mongols.    – 133 pages with many colorful inserts/ little text.)

2.       JACKIE TEMPO AND THE THE EMPEROR’S SEAL   by Suzanne Litrel – ISBN # 978-0-595-46822-5 $13.95

(teen fiction about the Ming Empire – easy reading.    - 154 pages, larger print.)

3.       SALT    – Mark Kurlansky –    ISBN #0-14-200161-9

(Used last year; probably some of the IB students from last year can loan them the book or sell it as a used book.   This is the longest of the three, but is helpful in tracing World History through a commodity.)
