Speech and Language Therapy

Sharon Evans M.Ed. CCC/SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech Therapy is provided at Andy Woods Elementary School after a child has been identified as Speech Impaired (SI) following assessment by a licensed/certified Speech Language Pathologist.  Services at Andy Woods are provided for children ages 3 years old to 5th grade.  Once a child has been identified as Speech Impaired, an ARD committee (Admission/Review/Dismissal) meets to review the testing and place the student in Speech Therapy.  At that time, the type and amount of services to be provided will be determined.  Students on the Andy Woods campus receive Speech Therapy in either a direct or indirect (consultative) setting with a group or individually.  At least once a year, the ARD committee will reconvene to discuss progress and make plans for continuing Speech Therapy.  At least every three years, the student will be reevaluated to determine continued eligibility and current Speech/Language needs.
