Woods Elementary has seven countries represented by our ELL students. We spend lots of time speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. We use Discovery Streaming all the time so we can see pictures and hear different facts about what we are studying. We love reading games, singing songs in English, and making friends who speak our own home language. We have small groups so our shy or new students can ask questions and feel safe to participate. Our students are so successful that after passing the TAKS test in third grade they exit ELL classes and receive only monitoring for the next two years before going on to middle school.
