TISD School Earns EPA Designation

Jack Elementary School has earned the U.S. Environmental Agency’s ENERGY STAR designation.  This accomplishment will be recognized at the regular school board meeting to be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 p.m.  To earn the ENERGY STAR, a school must be more energy efficient than 75% of similar buildings nationwide.  READ MORE

 

Tyler ISD Schools Get Top Marks From TEA

The Texas Education Agency awarded 40 Gold Performance Acknowledgments to 15 Tyler ISD schools, the school district announced.
Gold Performance Acknowledgements (GPAs) recognize districts and campuses for high academic performance on indicators such as commended performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test and significant improvement in reading and mathematics, according to TISD.

Bob Liles remembers when Clarkston Elementary School was nothing more than a piece of land.  In 1959, the same year Clarkston opened, Liles was a third grade student.

Betty Plyler has fond memories of her 10 years teaching youngsters at Clarkston Elementary School.  In 1959, the year Clarkston opened its doors, Mrs. Plyler served as a first-grade teacher.

The Tyler Independent School District has been awarded 40 Gold Performance Acknowledgments (GPA) from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).  The final 2009 state accountability ratings and gold performance acknowledgements were recently released by TEA and 15 campuses in the Tyler ISD received one or more acknowledgements.  READ MORE

 

ORR Elementary To Receive US Navy Ship Flag
Orr Elementary will receive a special United States Flag to be flown next school year in front of the new school.  The Crew of the USS NEW YORK raised the flag on the morning of November 2, 2009 and flew it for 24 hours.  READ MORE

The Tyler Independent School District wants to invite parents and community members to join their new Facebook fan page.  As an effort to embrace new technology, the District is using the social networking tool to distribute information about the campuses.  READ MORE

 

TISD with Help from Senator Eltife Raise more than $16,000

Thanks to the employees of the Tyler Independent School District, Texas State Senator Kevin Eltife, and the fans at Friday night’s Robert E.
